About Me

Cheryl Taylor, Owner
Hello! I’m Cheryl Taylor, the proud owner of Hammer & Stain East Michigan. Crafting has always been my passion, and I’ve turned that love into a vibrant community where creativity knows no bounds. Whether it's painting, working with wood, or personalizing home decor, I believe in the joy and satisfaction that comes from creating something with your own hands.
At Hammer & Stain East Michigan, I teach a variety of DIY craft workshops designed to inspire and empower you to unleash your inner artist. From seasonal projects to personalized home décor, my goal is to provide a fun and supportive environment where everyone can explore their creativity and learn new skills.
As a lifelong lover of crafts, I’m dedicated to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. I cherish the opportunity to connect with fellow crafters and beginners alike, helping them discover the magic of handmade creations. Let's craft something beautiful together!
While Hammer & Stain East Michigan is currently a mobile studio (this means I conduct workshops at different venues throughout the Thumb area) I hope to one day have an actual studio where crafters can come and enjoy time with family and friends while being creative. In the meantime, I plan to conduct several public workshops a month and hope to also schedule some private parties as well.

Mateo, Quality Control Manager
Now everybody knows that every successful business needs a great Quality Control Manager, and I am lucky to have one. Meet Mateo, the fluffiest Quality Control Manager in the history of DIY craft workshops. With a nose like a bloodhound and the heart of a teddy bear, Mateo ensures that the materials we use for our craft workshops get the paw of approval! Of course Mateo has been known to sleep on the job but we are working on that!
